Training

We are providers of LANTRA training courses, which are currently available in two formats:

  • Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA) leading to a Certificate of Basic Training.
Suitable for occasional chainsaw users (the assessment is carried out during the course by the instructor).
  • Training only leading to a Certificate of Attendance.
Suitable for operators working in Forestry or Arboriculture. These courses provide the necessary preparation for National Proficiency Test Council (N.P.T.C.) assessments. N.P.T.C. assessments must be booked through their assessment centres to whom a fee is paid (we can arrange this). Any N.P.T.C. assessment will be on a date separate to (after) the training course and the course instructor cannot assess his/her own trainees.

Please note that participants who do not satisfactorily complete all parts of either type of course may receive certificates listing only the skills which were achieved.

Please see 'Course Information' below for outlines of our most frequently requested courses: other courses, eg. dealing with larger and windblown trees, pruning, dismantling etc. are also available, as is refresher training for experienced operators. Please contact us for details.

All equipment (chainsaws, protective clothing, climbing kit etc) is provided: participants wishing to use their own equipment, which must meet current safety standards, will receive discounts.

LANTRA courses and N.P.T.C. assessments are subject to frequent review, with possible changes to content and cost. Please contact us for personal advice on your training needs, a quotation for current costs and availability of course dates.
